This will be Ava's second and final litter. We will only breed our female AKC German shorthairs a maximum of two times in their lives. Ava and Kodi's first litter produced some amazing puppies. This is the reason for the second and final pairing of these two beautiful shorthair pointers. There were several solid blacks, solid livers, and a few pure-white patched AKC German shorthaired puppies in Ava's previous litter. The first pick female is already spoken for. We are accepting puppy requests for the remaining shorthair puppies. The puppies should be ready to take home the first week of September 2023.

While good training techniques can help a German shorthair puppy reach its fullest potential, they will never replace the natural instincts and overall dispositions they receive from their parents.

Purebreed Shorthair Puppy:
Good training practices will help a puppy reach its fullest potential but much of what makes a good German shorthair pointer is already there in its blood. The desire to point is something the dog does without thinking. All of our German shorthair pointer puppies for sale are produced by our own personal hunting dogs. We are not a puppy mill. We only have puppy litters when we wish to preserve the bloodlines of our dogs. Good training helps a young puppy unlock the natural instincts it already possesses but it can not take the place of puppy genetics.
Shorthair Puppy Training:
Pointing and retrieving are probably the two most important skills that a young pointer puppy can possess. While retrieving is mostly a learned behavior, pointing is mostly instinctual. All of our shorthair puppies for sale are started young in their training. Early training helps young puppies unlock their skill sets. The mind of a young puppy is like a sponge. Relaxed, consitstant, early training starting at 7 to 8 weeks, will help set the puppy down a path where it will continue to learn for its lifetime.
Early Shorthair Puppy Training
Puppy Training Philosophy:
Special care should be taken in not trying to finish a dog too quickly. I know everyone hears the stories about my dog did this by this age or my dog did that. What difference does it make if the puppy was retrieving by 10 weeks or 20 weeks? I know new shorthair owners are worried that their new puppy won't match up to their hunting partner's dog but there is no need to rush a German shorthair pointer. Good training takes time and patience. It also produces a shorthair that loves its life and is willing to do anything for its master.
Family-Hunting Dogs:
Our German Shorthair puppies for sale are the offspring of our personal family hunting dogs. Thirty+ years of selective breeding practices have helped us produce a calmer, smaller, German Shorthair Pointer with all of the hunting skills needed for our guide service that also processes a gentle relaxed disposition and general overall size more suited for a house. Even though several of our GSPs have 1000+ birds under their belts, they slept in the house at night on their beds.
