Brainerd MN German Shorthairs:
Ava is currently our oldest German Shorthair pointer. She was born in December 2016. Ava became the matriarch of the house in 2020 when our dear Abby passed away at the age of 14 years. Ava is a skilled hunter and the most determined German shorthair pointer we have owned. Ava has a tendency to hunt through cover she probably should have gone around. Ava is no stranger to the vet.
Ava on Pheasants
Shorthair Hunting Style:
Ava really understands the pheasant hunting game. She has worked at a hunting preserve since she was 9 months old. Ava has over 2000+ birds to her name. Her years of experience on wild and released birds have helped develope her bird hunting skills. Ava has learned pheasants like to sneak out at the end of cover so she usually loops around wide near the end and then hunts back, workng towards the other dogs to pin the birds in-between. This isn't a skill that can be taught. Ava is definitely an intelligent dog. She points, honors, and retrieves birds to hand.

Every German shorthair puppy for sale is the product of decades of selective breeding. We are not a puppy mill. We only have shorthair puppies for sale in infrequent years. We chose our German shorthaired pointer pairs for their calmness, pointing skills, looks, and stature. Many Shorthair Pointer puppies for sale are purchased before the puppy is whelped. Ava plays the mother role of our house. There was a short period where she was our only shorthair pointer. Ava accepted her matriarch role when the other puppies started joining our home. Ava is a great loving dog who is great with children but she also loves her own space. She is perfectly content to lie by the front door while the rest of the dogs are lying by the fireplace so she can keep an eye on things and keep everyone safe.
