The ice did not go out until the first week of May this year. This is the second year in a row we have had a late ice-out. My favorite seasons are the ones when the ice goes out in early April. The season started slow but then took off with a bang. The walleye bite was exceptional on the Whitefish Chain this year. It was one of the best summers I can remember for catching big walleye. The life of a fishing guide is easy when the walleyes bite is good. I hope next year is similar.
