History of Brainerd Cabin Rentals:
The Paul Bunyan Trail is one of the most scenic paved hiking trails in Minnesota. The trail follows the same path the old railroad line used in the early 1900s to bring vacationers to the Brainerd Lakes. It was the only method tourists could access Brainerd cabin rentals at that time. Some of the local resorts, like Train Bell Resort, still have names that remind visitors of the Brainerd Lakes Area’s historic past. It also explains why there is a train depot sitting five miles west of the Brainerd cabin retail, just north of Lake Hubert, with no tracks. The Lakes Area has multiple hiking trails throughout its region. The Brainerd Camber of Commerce has free hiking trail maps.

Trails by Brainerd Cabin Rental:
One of the nicest access points to the Bunyan trail system is located one mile west of the rental cabin in Brainerd Minnesota. It is on the west side of HWY 3, directly across the street from the SA gas station in Merrifield MN. This access point has a large paved parking lot where visitors can leave their cars while enjoying the scenic beauty of the Paul Bunyan Trail. The trail headed north of the parking lot, past Train Bell Resort, provides some of the best scenery found on the Paul Bunyan Trail. This path will take visitors to our Brainerd Lakes cabin past North Long, Hubert, and Clark Lake.

Our VRBO rental cabin in Brainerd Minnesota allows guests to enjoy multiple activities in the Brainerd Lakes Area with the privacy of their own cabin rental in the woods. The Paul Bunyan Trail is located close by. One of our favorite activities is to park our vehicle in Merrifield and then hike north to the Nisswa Dairy Queen. The Trail runs right past their store. There is a 5-degree climb on the Trail from Merrifield to Nisswa. It is a nice workout. We then walk back towards the Brainerd cabin rental enjoying a tasty frozen treat. Hikers should always start out hiking north on the Paul Bunyan Trail. Nothing is worse than turning around and having to walk back uphill to get to your vehicle.
